Juggling marriage, parenthood and her profession, Joy has had the challenge of finding what faith means in her real life rather than theory. Being stretched in so many directions has challenged her to confront the expectations that she either feels from others or believes herself. Even her marriage relationship seemed painfully isolating as she was wrestling with her yearnings and her God. More than ever, Joy has recently recognised that although faith doesn't insulate her from a struggle-free life, it is an unyielding source of hope, optimism and enthusiasm for the present moment. Reflecting on key moments of crisis and clarity in recent years, 28-year-old Phil explores his experiences of the thrill that new life phases can bring, the challenge of finding purpose and the unexpected potential to discover the extraordinary, especially when life seems mundane, repetitive and directionless. Faith is sometimes perceived as a source of blessing that produces happiness or success. For married couple Jodie & Michael, their experiences of the ups and downs as parents reveal another side to what it means to have faith. For them, faith has become less a ‘thing’ that produces the outcomes they’ve most desired; and less something that reduces the likelihood of difficulties and struggles that come their way. Rather, through the lowest times, they’ve come to find faith as a way through; even sometimes through to the unexpected; they’ve recognised faith as a source of hope; a connection; a knowing that God walks with them in the messiness of life. October saw The FaithFeed’s 3rd studio audience event, featuring the story of Kester, a 29-year-old male and his initial vision of purpose and direction. Not long ago, however, he felt himself blaming God for the shock of what became a very different reality.
